Intro
The Naprej/Forward Festival, organized by the Slovene Association of Journalists in collaboration with Slovenian media houses, was held for the thirteenth time in 2024. The four day festival took place in December 2024 in Kranj, Celje and Ljubljana, hosting 21 speakers on stage and culminating in the Čuvaj awards, recognizing outstanding journalists, journalistic teams, photographers and a lifetime achievement honoree.

Objective
Create a minimalist visual identity that captures the connection between the local and the global, reflecting the festival's role as a meeting point for Slovenian and international journalism. The identity needed to work across multiple cities, multiple formats and multiple touchpoints, from large format venue branding to printed programs, social content and award presentations.

Challenge
The challenge was developing a visual language with enough conceptual depth to represent serious journalism, while staying minimal and flexible enough to scale across the entire festival ecosystem. The identity had to feel intentional and editorial, signaling the festival's importance, without becoming heavy or overdesigned.

Result
A clean, minimalist identity that abstractly communicates the festival's conceptual framework, the dialogue between local Slovenian journalism and the wider global media landscape. The system was applied across all festival materials, supporting partners including N1 Slovenia, RTV Slovenia, Delo, Al Jazeera Balkans, the Slovenian Press Agency and the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Slovenia.
